Carole King & Jessie Mueller Put on Great Performance at the 2014 Tony Awards, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The 2014 Tony Awards were held on Sunday night, June 8th, at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City and among the performances were music legend Carole King and actress Jessie Mueller. Jessie sang "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and then Carole joined in with The Shirelles to sing "I Feel the Earth Move".
Emmy Award-winning singer-songwriter Carole King's musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical earned seven nominations tonight. Jessie Mueller also won the award for 'Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical' for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
King has released 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at #1 by a female artist for more than 20 years until broken by Whitney Houston (for the soundtrack album The Bodyguard). Her most recent non-compilation album was Live at the Troubadour in 2010, a collaboration with James Taylor that reached number 4 on the charts in its first week and has sold over 600,000 copies.
She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for her songwriting. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be so honored.
Other winners were Neil Patrick Harris winning the Tony for 'Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical', for his work as a East German transgender rocker in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, also named best revival of a musical; and Bryan Cranston won 'Leading Actor in a Play' for his work as LBJ in All The Way.
