The Moon and the Sun Movie Release Date, Reveals, News and Plot: Pierce Brosnan to Play King Louise XIV
The year 2015 is a really good year for science fiction fans. The novel by Vonda N. McIntyre that won the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 2007, The Moon and the Sun, finally comes to the cinema. The book was picked by Paramount Pictures, Bliss Media, Brookwell McNamara Entertainment, Cosmos Filmed Entertainment, Good Universe, Lightstream Pictures and Pandemonium for production. Paramount picked Sean McNamara who has done a lot of work on TV and movies aimed at a younger demographic. This movie being a little more grown in theme may be a slight challenge for the seasoned director.
The movie centers around four major characters in the court of King Louis XIV. The King afraid of dying sends Father Yves de la Croix to bring a mythical sea creature whose flesh is rumored to confer those that eat it immortality. Father Le Croix brings a live and frozen specimen, it falls unto his sister Mademoiselle Marie-Josephe to take care of the live monster while dissections are carried out on the frozen specimen. Marie finds out that this is no monster but a sea woman who speaks in a musical way that only she can understand. Marie tries to let people in on this but she is labeled hysterical by all except the stoic Count Lucien. The mermaid leads them to a sunken galleon to try and win her freedom but the King is adamant that he will eat her. She is however released by the trio whom she shows gratitude by showering them with sunken treasure.
The plot is severely interesting with the book beating R. R. Martin's A Game 0f Thrones for the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 2007. The film sees the return of Pierce Brosnan from whence he went after being retired from the Bond series. Pierce shall be playing King Louise XIV. Kayla Scodelario shall be playing Marie-Josephe; Benjamin Walker as Father Yves De La Croix and Fan Bingbing as the mermaid Sherzad. The movie was shot in Australia.
