Glen Campbell Back on the Country Chart After 21 Years

Country music crooner Glen Campbell is back on Billboard's Hot Country Songs with his last recorded song "I'm Not Gonna Miss You." The last time Campbell had a song on the chart was 21 years ago when he released his final Liberty Nashville Records album "Somebody Like That." An album that was produced by Jerry Crutchfield and had songs written by Steven Curtis Chapman, Paul Overstreet and Troy Seals. And the last time he hit the top 40 was in 1991 when "Unconditional Love" was a #27 hit.
Recently, Campbell has ended his career with a farewell tour and a final song "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" after Alzhemier's had been affecting the singer. Known for hits such as "Wichita Lineman," "Gentle on My Mind" and "By the Time I Get to Pheonix," Campbell has certainly left his iconic mark on the music idustry.
"I'm Not Gonna Miss You" is from a soundtrack EP accompanying the documentary "Glen Campbell...I'll Be Me," which includes the Band Perry's cover of Campbell's 1967 hit "Gentle on My Mind." "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" starts with 81 percent of its Hot Country Songs points from streaming, all from 498,000 Vevo on YouTube clicks for its moving clip promoting the doc.
Here's part of the song's lyrics:
I'm still here, but yet I'm gone
I don't play guitar or sing my songs
They never defined who I am
The man that loves you 'til the end
You're the last person I will love
You're the last face I will recall
And best of all, I'm not gonna miss you.
Not gonna miss you.
I'm never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You're never gonna see it in my eyes
It's not gonna hurt me when you cry
I'm never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains
I'm not gonna miss you
I'm not gonna miss you
