On 16th October, Apple launched this year's iPad Mini 3 at Apple's Town hall Auditorium. The iPad Mini 3 will be substituting the predecessor iPad Mini 2 and colors will be the new addition. The tech market has indulged on big size phablets earlier rather than tablets. Therefore, it will be a challenging task for iPad Mini 3 to survive in the completive market. Let's take a quick review of iPad Mini 3 and iPad Mini 2.
The iPad Mini 2 has 7.9-inch LED backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen type display that offers 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution. The device is well equipped with 324 pixels per inch. The frustrating news is that iPad Mini 3 might have come after almost a year, but the tiny upgrade in the display department is very disappointing. iPad Mini 3 also has 7.9-inch display size and no changes have been brought in the display resolution and pixel density. Both the devices come with oleophobic coating. Fans would have expected lot more from Apple. According to the Verge, new features like Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Apple Pay service do not go unnoticed.
The camera segment has no change at all. Like the predecessor, this version also has only 5MP rear facing camera with 1.2MP front facing camera. The camera can record video of 1080p at 30fps. Common shooting features like touch focus, geo-tagging, Face Time, face detection, autofocus, HDR are shared by both the devices.
The hardware department as seen a tiny change with the chipset. As GSMARENA states iPad Mini 3 is powered by the Apple's latest and tech-savvy Apple A8 chipset that is assisted by Dual-Core 1.3GHz Cyclone processor and the graphics emulator GPU has separated Quad-Core graphics card named PowerVR G6430. The predecessor has everything common in the hardware segment except for the chipset. The chipset that was introduced in the iPad Mini 2 was Apple A7. iPad Mini 2 and Mini 3 both have 1GB of DDR3 RAM slot.
As mentioned in the App Advice the iPad Mini 3 comes in different variants in terms of internal storage. According to Target Carrier Company, the price for the Wi-Fi and cellular model for 16GB is $529, 64GB model costs $629 and lastly the 128GB model has price tag around $729. Whereas the Wi-Fi model only costs for 16GB model $399, 64GB model $499 and the 128GB model priced around $599.
