Nexus 9 vs Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Comparison: Google Has the Bigger Screen and Longer Battery Life; Sony Has The Better Camera and More Powerful Processor
"Size does not matter." It is a cliché that can go against the tech-market because usually, size does matter for the consumers. Smartphones, phablets, and tablets are the personal handy devices with diverse size options. Mostly, users settle with phablets as it has just the right size of smartphone but has the capabilities of a tablet.
This somehow means a tablet is relatively superior to a smartphone. But is it really true? This is a comparison of the latest flagship from Google and HTC and the new smartphone from Sony. Let us see who is the real superior between these two devices based on Phone Arena.
Japan-based tech-giant recently unveiled its new Xperia Z3 series, which include Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 compact. Based from the name of the device, Z3 Compact is the compact version of the Z3. This small but definitely not so terrible device, in terms of specifications, is tipped for an imminent release soon as reported by iTech Post.
On the other hand, Nexus 9 is the tablet produced by Google and HTC's partnership. The Verge reported that it is the search-engine giant's effort in redeeming itself after Nexus 7 has been successful but still haunted by issues about optimizing apps in its screens. Nexus 9, as the latest flagship tablet of the two tech-giants, is highly anticipated and is now available for pre-orders.
So which would be a better purchase? Is it Google and HTC's tablet or Sony's little smartphone?
As it is a tablet, Nexus 9 is bigger in terms of body and display compared to Xperia Z3 Compact. Google's tablet has 8.99 x 6.05 x 0.31 inches dimension compared to Sony smartphone's 5.00 x 2.56 x 0.34 inches (127 x 64.9 x 8.6 mm). The tablet's 8.9-inch IPS LCD display with 1536 x 2048 resolution is way bigger than the handset's 4.6-inch IPS LCD with 720 x 1280 pixels.
Google and HTC's flagship tablet is also powered with the relatively better operating system which is the latest Android Lollipop 5.0. It is the first device with the said OS. Sony's compact phone, on the other hand, is still programmed with Android Kitkat 4.4 but it is reported that it will be available for an upgrade soon.
Nexus 9 is not a runaway winner in this comparison because Xperia Z3 compact is way better than the tablet in terms of camera and processor. Google's newest tablet has 8MP which is inferior to Sony compact's 20.7MP rear snapper. Even in selfie camera quality, Xperia Z3 compact's 2.2MP is better that Nexus 9's 1.6MP.
Xperia Z3 Compact has also a better processor, Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 compared to Nexus 9's Dual core NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. On the other hand, both devices have 2GB RAM. In terms of internal storage, Nexus has 32GB capacity while Xperia has 16GB only but Google's tablet has no micro-SD slot while Sony' smartphone has an available slot for expansion up to 128 GB.
On the other hand, Google Nexus 9 has better battery compared to Sony Xperia Z3 Compact at 6700 mAh versus 2600 mAh.
These two devices have their fair share of pros and cons so the choice is now in your hands.
