'Legend Of GrimRock 2': Patch Version 2.1.13 Released To Fix Crash Bugs; PC Version Being Updated To Cater The Fans' Requests
According to Grimrock's website, they have just released a patch that updates "Legend of Grimrock 2" to version 2.1.13, wherein it fixes multiple issues including some crash bugs. So it's highly recommended that everybody updates to the latest version.
They added that the steam version of the game should automatically update soon. If the game does not update in a few hours, restarting the Steam client should help. While in the stand alone version, you have to download the patch that updates the game installed on your computer.
In GOG version, the patch also works with GOG installations but there is a slight kink. When a dialog appears saying that an existing installation can not be found and the patcher asks "Abort Installation?" select No. You have to then navigate to the installation location of your GOG version of "Legend of Grimrock 2."
Gamespot cited that the combat in "Grimrock II" is a more refined, empowering, and choice-centric part of the experience. And this time around, with good reason - the beasts that inhabit the Isle of Nex are a much more formidable breed.
Mainstay monsters that have adorned the darkened hallways of grid-based crawlers for years are well-represented: giant spiders, rats, ogres, and the undead. But new to the fray are creatures that, like your characters, carry their own functional skill sets. The giant toads roaming the bog may seem straightforward, but when one leaps across several tiles, landing behind your party, lashing out with its sticky tongue and pulling your characters' weapons out of their hands, the encounter shifts dramatically in its favor. Wispy elementals patrol the forests and press their attacks, unfazed by conventional weapons and spells, and leaving you helplessly searching for a vulnerability of some kind. And amethyst-hued cycloptic floating squid-beasts spew blinding ink from both ends, disgustingly enough, in the jewel-encrusted mines beneath the surface of Nex.
Meanwhile, PC Gamer stated in their review that they really liked "Legend of Grimrock 2" while playing for only an hour."It's wonderfully inviting-I can launch it and be playing in seconds, without any need for a tutorial as its rules are picked up through experimenting. And in as much as I've played, it distills a classic genre into a few great qualities: an understated mystery, characters I can imagine on my own, and RPG systems complex enough to surprise and challenge me," they added.
