"God's Redemptive Reality Never Gets Old:" Inspire Music Talks About Pushing the Gospel into New & Heavenly Realms
Inspire music was birthed out of INSPIRE CHURCH on Oahu, Hawaii lead by Senior Pastors Mike and Lisa Kai. Cindy Scullard is the Worship Director at INSPIRE CHURCH. With her experience and knowledge she continues to lead and push the team to greater heights, reaching more and more for Christ each week. Signed to DREAM Worship Records, Inspire Music shares the roster with notable worship leaders such as Cindy Cruse Ratcliff (of Joel Osteen's church), Darrell Evans and New Hope Oahu.
They have just released their brand new DREAM Worship Records debut "Inspire." Here's our exclusive chat with the team.
Hallels: Thank you so much for your time. For our readers who may not be familiar with Inspire Music, briefly tell us more about yourself?
Inspire Music was birthed out of Inspire Church on Oahu, Hawaii lead by Senior Pastors Mike and Lisa Kai. With 3 locations on Oahu, one in Manila, Philippines, and Church Online, Inspire Church continues to inspire, influence and reach people around the world! Our passion is to see people fulfill their God given potential.
Hallels: Being located in Hawaii, does your location and the uniqueness of the Hawaiian culture influence your sound?
No. I'm originally from South Africa and our team is multi-cultural. My heart has always been to bring Jesus to everyone in a way they can musically relate to. We are honored to represent Hawaii, but our sound is not limited to where we are planted. Our church is not only based locally but have a location in Manilla and God is opening doors for us internationally. The heart of our Sr Pastor is for our church to have a global reach.
Hallels: How did you end up signing with DREAM Worship for the release of your new album?
My husband and I have known David for a number of years. We met when he was leading worship at Dream Center in Los Angeles. I led worship with his team a couple of times and always wanted to do a project together. While working with another church in Hawaii, David heard that we were with Inspire Church. We met up and the rest is history. We are so honored to be working with Dream Label Group!
Hallels: I have read on your press release that you are into the "cutting edge of worship and pushing boundaries." How does this brand new album push boundaries?
God is amazing and we try and reflect Him in everything we do! Inspire Church is all about winning the hearts of those who don't know Jesus. With many first time attendees coming to our church, our heart is that the secular listener can relate to every note and beat and therefor relate to God! "Cutting edge worship" and "pushing boundaries" is obviously related to sounds, but as a church and music group we are more concerned with pushing boundaries in the heavenly realms. Our focus is to intercede for the lost through music.
Hallels: I love the song "Colors;" I particularly love how you weave the words of the hymn "Amazing Grace" into a new tune which is just brilliant. Why did you want to utilize part of the words of "Amazing Grace"?
I can't take all the credit for the song "Colors". Sitting together with David Hanley from Dream Label while working on lyrics, David said, "Cindy, are you ready for this. This is very different". He then sang the verse of "Amazing Grace". I believe that God's redemptive reality never gets old! To put those lyrics in a new package brings God honor and brings the listener something familiar to an unfamiliar song.
Hallels: For our readers who may not have heard your new single "Shine," tell us, what is the song about?
[Jesus, the Light of the World] Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." (John 8:12, NLT)
"Shine" is about and for those who don't know Jesus and in need of hope. All those who are heavy burdened the scripture says, come to Him and He will give you rest. He is the light and in Him there is no darkness. It is also prophetic; God's glory will break through on earth just as it is in heaven when we as believers stand ground for the cause of Christ. It is also a prayer to God to pour out His glory so that we can be all He wants us to be. "Shine" is about Jesus who is the light, who is the hope and who longs to have a relationship with us.
Hallels: If our readers would like to find out more about you or purchase your new album, where can they go?
