Alabama Tops the Charts with All-New DVD Release

Legendary country music trio Alabama hit the top of the sales charts this week with their all-new gospel DVD, Angels Among Us, Hymns & Gospel Favorites (LIVE), which released on August 21st.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, the new recording, filmed at Cook Castle in the band's hometown of Fort Payne, Ala., debuted at #1 on both the Billboard Music Video chart and theChristian Music Video chart. In addition, the companion CD, Angels Among Us, Hymns & Gospel Favorites (Gaither Music Group), which released in September of last year, landed at #10 on the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) sales chart and at #1 on the Christian Country chart.
Hosted by Gospel music icon Bill Gaither and produced by the band-Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentryand Randy Owen, the video features a concert performance of some of the group's most treasured Gospel songs, many of which they grew up singing, as well as a new rendition of the title cut. The group also talks about those Gospel music roots and their faith in a behind-the-scenes interview with Gaither; and Owen's mother, Martha Owen, who was on hand to cheer them on, added her own touch to the piano during the special concert performance.
"As a band we had always wanted to do a new album of Gospel music," stated Alabama. "We are so grateful that the Bill Gaither organization wanted to partner with us on this album and DVD. Not only did we get to pick the songs we wanted to record, but we also got to film the DVD special in our hometown of Fort Payne, Ala., at Jeff's home, Cook Castle. This project was from the heart."
