Abigail Duhon Releases "I'm Not Ashamed" as a Tribute to Her Friend Who Died at the Columbine Shooting
The multi-talented Abigail Duhon releases her new single, "I'm Not Ashamed." Co-written by Duhon and Grammy Award winning producer, Chuck Butler, the song is based on the tragic death of Rachel Joy Scott, the student who was killed in the 1999 Columbine High School shooting for admitting her faith.
I am not ashamed/Because You've given me life/I am not afraid/Because You've opened my eyes/That whatever stands before me/I know You will hold me/I am not ashamed/No I am not ashamed.
Duhon's video performance can be viewed online following the Juce TV premiere, www.youtube.com/abigailduhon. The song will be going for adds at Christian and mainstream radio and released to online and retail music outlets later this summer.
Duhon's song is the title track for a film about Scott that will feature Duck Dynasty star, Sadie Robertson, along with her mother, Korie Robertson and younger sister, Bella. The movie, I'm Not Ashamed, will premiere in the United States Oct. 21 and is based on the journal entries written by Scott, including one of her written prayers that led to the title of the film and song. Chuck Howard (A Matter Of Time, 11 Seconds) is the producer for I'm Not Ashamed and Scott's mother, Beth Nimmo, is an executive producer for the project.
"When I read the script for the upcoming film, I was so moved by Rachael's story," says Duhon. "Her strong faith is the inspiration for my new single and it inspires me every time I sing it. What a lovely legacy Rachel left us to always be bold and stand up for what we believe no matter what we might be facing."
"Rachel was so strong on that fateful day in 1999, as she professed her faith in Christ when everything was against her," explains Howard. "That someone so young was willing to die for her beliefs is a lesson for all of us. I sincerely hope that this song and movie will bring honor to Rachel's memory and inspire Christians and non-believers around the world."

About Abigail Duhon
Abigail Duhon was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, and became a dancer when she was two years old. She discovered her passion for music at six-years-old, immediately after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the family home. Duhon began writing lyrics as a reflection of her sudden circumstances, which became the song "Beautiful," and was featured on her 2014 album Right Now. Duhon became one of the youngest teen artists to have a Christian song reach the Top 100 Billboard Singles chart in 2014. Right Now combined pop music with EDM and dubstep elements to create an exciting alternative for tweens desiring to listen to a secular sound, but with faith based lyrics. In 2013, Duhon was selected to become a cast member of the TV show iShine Knect, which averages over one-million viewers each week on the TBN Network and other faith based networks around the world. That same year, she launched her film career with This Is Our Time. In 2014, she was cast in the worldwide record setting Christian film God's Not Dead. Her work as a featured actor has ramped up in 2016 with appearances in the recently released Caged No More, God's Not Dead 2, Camp Cool Kids and I'm Not Ashamed (October 2016). Duhon has been touring nationally since 2013, opening for such high-profiled artists as Newsboys and for King and Country, and on the popular The Millennial Tour.
