SHINEBRIGHT Comes to an End
Christian pop band SHINEBRIGHT announce that they will no longer be making music come the end of the year. Comprising of singer-songwriter Emily Fertig and her husband, guitarist Nathan Fertig, SHINEBRIGHT will come to an end due to health issues and financial hardships.
Their problems started in 2015 when they both quit our jobs, sold our home and moved from Ohio to Nashville, TN. But they were met with health problems and a slew of financial difficulties. "A leap of faith to say the least. Leaps don't usually come with cotton candy clouds at the bottom, but we did find the bottom. For almost a year and a half our new season looked mostly like health issues for Emily and financial hardship. We continued to play shows and put out an EP with some of our proudest musical moments on it. A spot of sunshine in a dark year."
"Later, the couple felt that the season has changed and they needed to let go. "We could feel the season shift...EVEN BEFORE the answers to our prayers started to manifest. After a year of holding on so tightly, we so clearly and gently heard the Lord saying to let go. We don't really know what's coming but we know that this chapter is now giving way to the next. We will never stop dreaming. The Lord lays our path before our feet. We have never been so surrendered and trusting, even in the face of so much unknown."
Emily and Nathan started by leading youth worship services at their church, and that happened in 2007. The band solidified in 2009 with their current membership. At this time, Shine Bright Baby was spotted at the Alive Festival by the Tooth & Nail Records label, which they continued their interest, but it was not until 2012 when they were introduced to BEC Recordings by Tooth & Nail. Lastly, Emily stated that they did not get serious in making music until 2010.
According to CCM Magazine, the band took their name from Philippians 2. In addition, they told Christian Music Zine that the name was because the scripture "talks about shining brightly for Christ, just like the stars in the universe." Before being signed to BEC Recordings in 2012, they'd released three independent EPs: Brace Yourself (2008), The Heart and its Hope (2009) and Fall 2010 Sampler.
They were discovered by Tooth & Nail/BEC Recordings while performing at Alive Festival in 2009, and once signed to BEC, they released their debut studio album, Dreamers (2013), where their song "Beautiful Love" had moderate radio success. The title track from 2015's Only You EP also saw moderate success at radio, and that project was nominated for EP of the Year in the 4th Annual WE LOVE CHRISTIAN MUSIC AWARDS.
