Hillsong United's "People" Breaks Records With Impressive Debut Figures
Hillsong United's latest album People debuts at #2 behind Pink's Hurts 2B Human on the Billboard 200 chart. This is the Australian band's fourth top 10 and highest-charting effort yet. The live set arrives with 107,000 equivalent album units earned -- the largest week for a Christian music album in 2019.
UNITED previously hit the top 10 with Wonder (No. 10 in 2017), Empires (No. 5 in 2015) and Zion (No. 5 in 2013). People also claims the week's top-selling album and the act's best sales week yet, surpassing the 47,000 sold of Empires in its first frame. People's debut was bolstered by sales from a concert ticket/album redemption offer for the act's tour, which continues through July.
With an impressive 13 live albums in their repertoire, Hillsong UNITED continues their winning streak with this new catalog addition. Each song on the new album conveys an underlying theme of unity and aims to reflect the core values of the group while addressing the current state of the world. The 12 tracks that make up "PEOPLE" include previously released singles "As You Find Me," "Good Grace," "Whole Heart (Hold Me Now)," and Another in the Fire."
Debuting in December 2018, "Good Grace" set the record as UNITED's highest streaming street week career single, which "Whole Heart" subsequently broke by an increase of 12% upon its release in January 2019. "As You Find Me" has already garnered 8.2+ million global streams/YouTube views to date, while "Whole Heart" and "Good Grace" have amassed over 31.8+ million global streams (including YouTube views) collectively.
In support of "PEOPLE," Hillsong UNITED returns to the United States for the first time in nearly three years kicking off its 'The People Tour MMXIX,' in Austin, Texas tomorrow, April 25. The arena circuit includes a total of 33 stops before culminating at New York City's Madison Square Garden on July 2. Tickets are on sale now at hillsongunited.com.
