Charissa Thompson & Tracey Edmonds Join 'Extra' to Co-Host with Mario Lopez Fall 2014
"Extra" entertainment news show is adding some female firepower to pair with current host Mario Lopez. The show announced that Charissa Thompson and Tracey Edmonds have signed multi-year details to co-host alongside Lopez, who took over hosting duties in 2007. The new co-hosts will make their debut when Season 21 of "Extra" premieres on September 8th.
Tracey Edmonds is CEO of the production company Edmonds Entertainment and an award-winning producer. Their latest project is the hit series "Deion's Family Playbook" on OWN. Charissa Thompson spent time working with ESPN and hosting "Sportsnation" and is currently the co-host of "FOX Sports Live" on FOX Sports 1.
Edmonds shared, "I am thrilled to join 'Extra' and am so excited about being a part of such a dynamic and progressive entertainment show. I look forward to working with Mario, Charissa, Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey and her whole team. 'Extra' already set the bar high, but I look forward to contributing new ideas and exploring new horizons on the show as I enter the next chapter of my career."
Thompson added, "Working for 'Extra' has always been a dream job for me. I met with Lisa G a few years ago and she didn't hire me -- actually, I'm not sure if she remembered me. I made it a goal of mine to work hard and get back in front of her to knock her socks off, and I guess I made a better second impression. Now everything has come full circle. I am so excited to be joining 'Extra' and can't wait to get started with Mario and Tracey and the whole team."
Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, Senior Executive Producer of "Extra" shared, "Tracey Edmonds is one of the most accomplished television forces in Hollywood. She is already a star with A-list relationships. Charissa Thompson is one of the quickest, sharpest and best interviewers on sports TV and was born to juggle the demands of fast-paced television. From the moment I put Tracey and Charissa on stage with Mario, their chemistry was off the charts. They are generous with each other, they complement Mario, and together they will be an unstoppable team that will take 'Extra' into the future."
"Extra" is the second longest-running entertainment news magazine in syndication and won their first ever Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment News Program.
