Children of the World International Children's Choir Stranded Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

When an international children's choir's tour was canceled due to the coronavirus, Woodland citizens stepped up and made sure these children had a place to stay and food to eat while being stranded in the United States.
The Children of the World International Children's Choir is made up of children from Nepal, the Philippines, and Uganda. As part of World Help, a Christian humanitarian organization based in Virginia, the choir travels across the United States sharing songs and promoting child sponsorship for boys and girls living in poverty.
When their tour was canceled due to COVID-19, the children and their chaperones were forced to stop traveling and shelter in place on the West Coast. The borders to their countries had all been closed, eliminating the option of returning home. But one local family stepped up, offering their property as a place for the children to stay, and many members of the community have been helping to make sure the choir has plenty of food.
"At first we were worried about the food situation," said Nikki Hart, director of Children of the World. "Then, the community really stepped up, pitched in, and helped supply the kids with enough food to eat."

Woodland Public Schools, which have been delivering breakfast and lunch to all local children under 18, decided to include the choir on their route. Families who heard about the choir's situation began dropping off meals. And one couple even pitched in to provide a special quarantine pizza party for the kids.
"This has truly been a blessing," Hart said. "We cannot thank the community of Woodland enough for their support during these uncertain times."
