Blink-182 have announced that their new album is back on track after guitarist and vocalist Tom Delonge took to Instagram to share the news with the fans. He posted, "Rehearsals start today... And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink." along with a funny picture of all of the guys from high school, you can see the picture above.
DeLonge also posted this message to confirm on Instagram, "yes, there will be a new [Blink 182] album."
Fans have known that a new album has been in the works for a follow up to 2011's Neighborhoods release. Mark Hoppus (vocals/bass) revealed on Twitter that the band were working on demos early in 2014. However, they had publicly hoped to have their new album out by mid-2014 and then before they played the Reading-Leeds Festival in August 2014 in Europe. So they have clearly pushed back their deadline from their original plan.
Hoppus took to twitter awhile back and shared several tweets with fans, which many took as indication that Delonge was holding up the process. "Travis [Barker] and I have waited for Blink-182 to get back into the studio this past year", not including DeLonge's name in that claim.
Hoppus tweeted, "I started working on a project with my friend Chris [Holmes], who has worked on Grammy award-winning albums, and been my collaborator and confidant for many years. At this point we have nearly 25 songs in various stages of completion."
Tom Delonge and his other band Angels and Airwaves have been working on a new album as well and were hoping to release it before the end of 2014.
This new album will be Blink-182's seventh studio album. They will be playing two dates at London's O2 Academy Brixton on August 6 and 8. These will be warm- up gigs before they headline Reading and Leeds on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
