Rudy Currence Scores His First No. 1 Hit With "I Belong Here"

Rudy Currence scores his first No. 1 on Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart with "I Belong Here" (LISTEN HERE). The song ascends 2-1 on the list dated Feb. 6. This is Currence's second Gospel Airplay entry. "My Testimony" reached No. 18 in February 2018.
"I Belong Here" is an anthem for all believers. It reminds us that there is a special place and purpose for each of us within the body of Christ and that nothing can separate us from His love.
Currence, known to industry insiders for his GRAMMY and Dove award-winning production on Lecrae's Gravity album and GRAMMY nominated for his songwriting on Karen Clark Sheard's "Sunday Morning," is also known to a growing community of fans of his 2017 gospel single "Testimony," which reached Top 20 on the Billboard Gospel Radio Chart, his 2018 single "Send Me I'll Go," and his extraordinary live vocal and piano performances, with almost 6 million total YouTube views. Less known is that Currence is a classically trained "preacher's kid" from Rock Hill, SC with a music degree from Furman University who's written and produced songs for artists like Quincy Jones, David Banner, Mya and Ray J and has appeared on popular platforms such as ABC's The View, Revolt TV, BET Gospel, BET Music Matters, Music Choice, and The Breakfast Club. He is currently endorsed by Kawai, the world's second largest piano distributor.
The new single also represents a slight sonic shift for Currence, known in recent years to the Gospel music industry for his faith-first, contemporary bops and also known to a wider audience for his unique brand of family-friendly R&B. "I Belong Here" is definitely more musically straightforward than people are used to from me," Currence explains, "but I intended it as a sincere declaration of commitment to the body of Christ - which is even more relevant now with millions of people feeling isolated and mourning loved ones." With "I Belong Here," Currence makes a bold statement about faith, inclusion, and assurance that every believer needs to hear and can relate to - and reminds us of God's promise that we are not alone.
"I believe 'I Belong Here' is a song of faith needed for these trying times and a soundtrack of hope that every believer can relate to," shares Rudy Currence.
