Film Chronicling C.S. Lewis' Journey from Atheism to Christianity Coming This Year

A new film depicting the life of author and theologian C.S. Lewis is coming to a screen near you. Entitled The Most Reluctant Convert, the movie is expected to be released later in 2021, the Christian Post reports. The movie will show his journey from atheism to Christianity.
In the film, Lewis will be shown in three stages of life, including the death of his mother in childhood, his experiences serving during the First World War, and his wife's death. Lewis will revisit each of these memories as an older man. The young adult Lewis will be portrayed by Nicholas Ralph. Fellow author JRR Tolkien, who was a friend to Lewis, will be played by Ten Glannister.
Oxford, where Lewis tutored English literature, as well as his college, Magdalen, and his home, The Kilns, were prominent locations in Lewis' life and will be featured in the film.
Director Norman Stone says he thinks it's the perfect time for the story behind the most influential Christian author of the twentieth century to be shared on screen.
In an interview with The Guardian, Stone says truth was always crucial in Lewis' writing.
"Lewis looked truth in the eye, no matter what effect that would have," says Stone.
Stone won a BAFTA for a film based on Lewis' life and love 35 years ago and has directed two other dramatized documentaries on Lewis.
"At certain times, society says 'think a little deeper.' When you get something like Covid-19, then we should be thinking a bit more about things, and I think that's happening," Stone says.
Despite Lewis' death in 1963, his books have remained popular and well-known. As a complex thinker, the questions explored even in Lewis' fiction for younger readers are complex, layered, and filled with imagery.
