Lil Nas X Blames the Church for Being the Inspiration Behind the Satan Shoes
Popular rapper Lil Nas X has caused a stir when he produced 666 pairs of Satan Shoes. Each shoe contains a pentagram pendant and one drop of human blood mixed in with 60cc of ink. The shoes go hand in hand with his latest video "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)," which depicts Lil Nas X entering the Garden of Eden before going into hell to give Satan a lap dance before killing Lucifer.
One critic tweeted, "Lil Nas X is praised for dancing on satan. Kanye West is bashed for giving his life to Christ. Welcome to 2021."
The main culprit that has turned him into such a controversial figure, according to Lil Nas X, is the church. "i spent my entire teenage years hating myself because of the shit y'all preached would happen to me because i was gay," Lil Nas X explained in a tweet. "so i hope u are mad, stay mad, feel the same anger you teach us to have towards ourselves."
The 666 shoes which cost $1,018 a pair have all sold out, with one pair remaining. Lil Nas X is offering to give away the last pair. "if u want the 666th pair of the satan shoes quote this tweet and use #satanshoes to be entered and I'll pick someone by thursday."
MSCHF Product Studio, the company which produced the shoes, have recently been sued by Nike. Nike is sueing them for trademark infringement, claiming the company materially altered Nike's popular Air Max 97 design without permission. "There is already evidence of significant confusion and dilution occurring in the marketplace, including calls to boycott Nike in response to the launch of MSCHF's Satan Shoes based on the mistaken belief that Nike has authorized or approved this product," the suit read.
