Lydia Laird Returns with Her First Single for 2022 "This I Know (Jesus Loves Me)"
Singer and songwriter Lydia Laird returns with her first single for 2022 "This I Know (Jesus Loves Me)." For the last couple of years with the challenges of COVID, life has not been easy for Laird. Instead of being defeated by her circumstances, Laird chose to rest in the fact that Jesus loves us. The result is this powerful new song, which is available on all digital platforms today.
Laird writes, "In truth, It's been while since I have released any music and you may be wondering what's going on. Well, just like many of us in these last few Covid years, there have been a lot of ups and downs and changes in my life, and one of those changes is that I am now an independent artist again. I'm not going to lie to you, it's a little scary but really exciting at the same time.
"This isn't where I thought I would be this year, but my plans are no where as near as incredible for my life as God's, and I am so sure that He is sovereign and good and loves me and has a purpose for me, that I honestly can't wait to see what's ahead. I want to tell every single one of you who has been and still is such a huge part of my journey just how much your belief, your encouragement and your constant support means to me. You have helped me to keep on on many days where I have doubted my steps. This path I've chosen is wild and uncertain and can be really scary at times, but having you along for the ride makes it so worth it. I love you guys more than you know."
Laird was introduced to the world of songwriting and music at a very young age. Born into a musical family of ten children, she was five years old when her family began to use their musical gifts as a way to raise support for their time as missionaries in Romania. Lydia soon learned the powerful way God used music to bring His message of truth and love to the world.
At nine years old, after grieving a loss in her family, Lydia remembers writing what she would consider her first song. "I've always been an extremely emotional person, and I think that experience was when I first recognized that God had given me the tools through writing to express my emotions in a beautiful and healing way. I've been using those same tools ever since, and I am so thankful for His mercy in giving me such a beautiful and creative outlet."
Since nine years old, she has continued to write, perform and lead worship in hopes that by using her gift for God's glory, she can help others by giving words to their stories and experiences in a way that is both healing and draws them closer to the God who created them.
