Landry Cantrell Shares How Romans 8:28 Inspires His New Song "What He Didn't Do"

Singer and songwriter Landry Cantrell releases his newest song "What He Didn't Do" today via all digital service providers on DREAM Records. The song is a powerful reminder that God does not always answer our prayers according to our wishes, but he answers them for his glory and for our sanctification. Jonathan Gamble, who co-wrote with Cantrell on his last track "Source", worked with Cantrell on "What He Didn't Do."
Cantrell writes, "These past few years, we have gone through a lot as a people. We've experienced a lot of loss... more than I've ever seen before in my life. Romans 8:28 says 'And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.'
"Growing up I always thought that verse meant I was going to live an easy life without any heartaches, but as I got older there were things I went through that I couldn't seem to find the good in. If we continue to read in verse 29 it says, `For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son...' To be conformed to the image of his Son. Jesus. Jesus was forsaken, betrayed and abandoned.
"He endured mental and physical suffering beyond what I could ever begin to imagine. If everything that we go through in our life, the good the bad and the in-between is shaping us to be more like Jesus, then I believe that is good. If you can't seem to find the good in what you are walking through, I want to remind you that God is still good, and that He is not defined by our circumstances"
I've seen the first breath of a newborn
And seen the last one a loved would take
I've heard God speak through perfect strangers
And had days He was silent when I prayed
I've seen the highs and lived the lows
I've found the end of every road
And sometimes the mountain didn't move
And I had to trust what He didn't do
Was for my good
When I didn't think it could be
'Cause sometimes the storm just went away
But sometimes He knew I needed rain
But He's been good in what He did
And what He didn't do
