Jewish Artist & Holocaust Survivor Exhibited at Museum of the Bible

Museum of the Bible has announced a new exhibit, "Hope Amidst Despair: The Prophets by Jacob Barosin," featuring 18 life-size paintings by the late Jewish artist and Holocaust survivor Jacob Barosin.
Jacob Barosin was a Jewish artist who survived the Holocaust. Sheltering for a time in the quiet refuge of a French schoolhouse, he and his wife Sonia found solace in the pages of a Bible provided by the Christian schoolteacher who hid them. Fearful of making any noise while school was in session, Jacob and Sonia read from this Bible every day while they were in hiding.
It was during this time that Barosin was insprired to paint the biblical prophets, whose message of hope brought comfort in times of great despair.
These paintings, and other works by Barosin, were donated by the Garik and Greenblatt families and can be viewed on Floor 5 of Museum of the Bible through August 18, 2024, with general admission.
