P.I.D. (Preachers in Disguise, aka Preachas) Reunite

P.I.D. (Preachers in Disguise, aka Preachas) is a CHH (Christian Hip Hop) band formed in 1986. It is considered one of the founding fathers of the holy hip-hop scene in the United States. The name Preachers in Disguise was born from the concept of using rap music as a communication device to share the gospel as "Holy Ghost Preachers in rapping disguise" (a verse from the song "Don't Bow" on their 1988 debut album Here We Are).
The group members are Fred Lynch, a founding member from Dallas, TX; Jonathan Johnson, aka King Solomon Jay, from Pittsburgh, PA; and Richard Martin, aka Ace One The MC, from the Bronx, NY. Ordained ministers and accomplished performers, all three members of this group take the creative expression of the gospel most seriously as a vetted lifestyle, being the elder-statesmen of CHH culture.
So why the "come back" for P.I.D.? Ace One The MC shares, "We were asked to return on the scene to co-produce a documentary called Mic Drop: The Culture of Christian Hip Hop about the true beginnings of CHH, and it morphed into an opportunity for us to come together. We realized that so much of what we loved about the music and ministry was still burning within us.
As we began to perform together again after 35 years, we were surprisingly pursued by Holy Culture Records to come back to the music scene and share this gift on a worldwide platform! So creatively and authentically, as seasoned artists, we look to show and prove longevity and give back into the ministry portion of CHH."
With 35 years of creativity, service, and expression, P.I.D. not only holds the receipts to serve as elder statesmen for the genre but is also primed to bridge the gap between the generations of Christian Hip-Hop.
