WHATUPRGWHATUPRG Ends 2024 with New Single, "Rio"

Mexican American artist WHATUPRG, signed to Reach Records, is set to release his highly anticipated single, "RIO," on December 13th. Known for blending his faith and culture into a refreshing, genre-defying sound, RG has made waves with hits like "God Made A Way," "PRAISE," and the viral sensation "Drip Lee."
This new track marks a pivotal moment for RG as he intentionally focuses on connecting with the Latin American market. "RIO" features Brazilian gospel trap artist NESK ONLY, creating the first Brazilian crossover of its kind in this space. The collaboration was announced at RG's debut show in Brazil, where he performed before a sold-out crowd of 1,800.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting "RIO" since RG teased the track in early 2024 with this video on Instagram that garnered significant attention. The clip featured behind-the-scenes footage from his trip to Rio de Janeiro, along with a snippet of the song's powerful refrain, "Father, Son, and Spirit looking over me." The post crafted excitement across his global fan base, especially among listeners in Brazil, where his previous singles "Drip Lee" and "God Made A Way" have already gone viral.
Reflecting on RG's evolving priorities as an artist and his recent marriage, "RIO" delves into themes of faith and seeking a quieter, more grounded life. "Christ is over every season, no matter where I am," RG shared. The single also pays homage to Brazil's spiritual and cultural roots with cover art inspired by the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
Accompanying the single is a visually stunning music video, shot on location in Rio de Janeiro with NESK ONLY, showcasing breathtaking views of the city and bringing the track's message of divine guidance to life. With "RIO" being one of only two releases from RG this year, fans can anticipate big things ahead in 2025 for the artist and his devoted fan base, The Hooligans.
