Jamal Roberts has won Season 23 of American Idol. The 27-year-old physical education teacher from Meridian, Mississippi, captivated audiences and judges alike with his soulful performances and heartfelt storytelling, culminating in his victory during the finale on May 18, 2025. 

Roberts is a devout Christian whose faith deeply influences both his personal life and musical career. Raised in Meridian, Mississippi, he grew up immersed in church life, beginning to sing at the age of two and honing his talent in church choirs and school performances. His musical style is rooted in gospel traditions, evident in his original songs like "He's Preparing Me" and "You Lead I Follow," which reflect his spiritual journey and commitment to sharing his beliefs through music.
