Matt Maher Reflects on Historic Vigil in Rome

Multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, and worship leader Matt Maher is celebrating an unforgettable week in Rome, where he joined leading performers at Tor Vergata for a historic vigil with the Holy Father. Originally planned for 500,000 attendees, the gathering drew over one million people, creating what Maher described as "an incredibly prayerful evening" and "a thin space between Heaven and Earth."
The event featured powerful performances, including a masterful presentation by the orchestra and choir conducted by Marco Frisina. Yet, Maher noted that the most moving moment was the silence shared by the massive crowd. "A million people in silence is something I wish more would get to experience. Our world is so loud these days, and in that amount of time, it felt like Heaven met Earth," he shared.
During his time in Rome, Maher was deeply grateful for the presence of his family, who were welcomed by the Dicasteries of Communication and Evangelization. They were even given the special opportunity to meet the Holy Father. Reflecting on the experience, Maher urged supporters to remember the sacrifices of families behind touring artists and ministers, saying, "If you go to a concert or an event and there's a musician or a speaker that you love listening to or seeing, please pray for their families-most times, they are not with them."
As Maher processes the events of this remarkable week, his heart overflows with gratitude-to God, to his family, and to the worldwide Church for their unity in faith and prayer.
