Real Housewives of New York City Season 7: Original Cast Member Ramona Demoted To Recurring Guest Role Next Season, Aviva Fired, LuAnn Back To Being A Regular On The Bravo Show
Ramona Singer, according to an exclusive from US Weekly, has been demoted to a recurring role on the Real Housewives Of New York City Season 7 reality show TV series. An original member of the cast since it premiered on air, the 57-year old Singer's close to $600,000 per season paycheck may have been a factor in the network's decision to demote her according to the report. Another factor may be the fact that she refuses to discuss on the show the impending end of her more than two decades of marriage to 60-year old Mario. During the reunion episode of Season 6, she bristled when Andy Cohen brought the matter up. She said that for the sake of her 19-year old daughter, she will not discuss the matter.
Mario had been found cheating on his wife with a much younger woman, later identified as 32-year old socialite Kasey Dexter. In January, Ramona filed for divorce but reconsidered and gave Mario a second chance. Mario was again caught cheating. Ramona has had enough and called it quits, this time for good. She tweeted her followers, "I have decided to move on with my life without Mario. I tried my best to make my marriage work. I am excited for the new chapter in my life." She also removed Mario's picture from her Facebook page.
Ramona has been a regular at the Real Housewives of New York City since it debuted on March 4, 2008, on Bravo, along with LuAnn de Lesseps, Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, and Bethenny Frankel.
In related news, Aviva Drescher has been fired from The Real Housewives of New York City Season 7 according to another exclusive from US Weekly. A regular in the show for the past two seasons, she will probably be best remembered for throwing her prosthetic leg in the Season 6 finale at six cast mates who accused her of lying and using fake alibis to avoid going on mandatory group trips to Montana, Berkshires, Saratoga Springs, and elsewhere. Of that incident, Aviva told US Weekly, "I think me getting angry and throwing my leg on the table was really funny and crazy. I get a hoot out of it. But of course, I was definitely brought to the end of my rope, or the end of my leg so to speak."
The Real Housewives of New York City Season 7, once it returns on air, will have host Andy Cohen back at the show's reigns. According to NY Daily News Confidential, Cohen was begged by Bravo TV "to return to the struggling franchise, which has slipped from 2 million viewers to 1.3 million." To boost the ratings, Cohen may do "a little cast re-shuffling and maybe even a little firing" says Reality Tea. The Real Housewives of New York City Season 7 premiere date still hasn't been set by Bravo TV, inviting speculations that the show has been canceled or that all or some of the cast will all be replaced.
As far as Real Housewives of New York City Season 7 casting is concerned, Carole Radziwill and Countess LuAnn de Lesseps will be seen again next season. Lesseps will return no longer as a "friend" but as a full-fledged "housewife." NY Daily News Confidential, citing an insider source, says, "Carole is also safe. She is a dear friend of Andy's and has formed a genuine friendship with Heather Thomson. This is what the show is looking for....They want genuine relationships and drama, and want to stay away from anything the ladies 'stage' to make good TV-- such as throwing an artificial leg." Sonja Morgan, Kristen Taekman and Heather Thomson have also been asked to return to the Real Housewives of New York City Season 7.
In other Real Housewives of New York City Season 7 casting news, 45-year old Danish supermodel and photographer Helena Christensen reportedly turned down an invitation to be a part of the Bravo reality TV show according to Page Six. Helena was one of the first Victoria's Secret Angels and has been featured in campaigns for Revlon, Chanel and Versace. She has appeared in the covers of Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar.
