Forbes "Under 30 Summit" Starts With Musical Festival Featuring "Leading Bands Under The Age Of 30"
Forbes and the City of Philadelphia's first-ever "Under 30 Summit," which is expected to bring together more than 1,000 young entrepreneurs and game changers from across the United States, will kick off on Sunday, October 19, with an "Under 30 Music Festival" with leading bands under the age of 30, including DJ Afrojack, rapper Wiz Khalifa, singer-songwriter, LP, and Philly natives and hip-hop duo OCD: Moosh and Twist, at the Piazza at Schmidt's (1001 N. 2nd St.), according to Allie Volpe of philly.com.
The free concert is not limited to just under 30 attendees. Ms. Volpe describes how anyone can avail of tickets to the show thus: "Using the Internet and social media, complete four "actions" (via www.globalcitizen.org/nights) including signing petitions, sharing good vibes on various platforms, adding your self-portrait to the #showyourselfie campaign, and inviting friends to do the same. Pretty much, the more you interact, the more "points" you earn, giving you a better shot at winning tickets to the show."
According to Forbes editor Randall Lane, the "Under 30 Summit" is an outgrowth of the magazine's annual "30 Under 30" lists. For the past three years, he says, it has identified 30 young achievers in 15 different fields, providing a pool of 1,350 people who will be invited to participate in the upcoming summit. Of these 1,350 participants, Lane says: "Each of these remarkable achievers has been hand-chosen and vetted. Our goal is to inspire them and let them figure out how they can work together to change the world. Philadelphia, with its history, entrepreneurial culture and young population, is the perfect location to accomplish this."
Mayor Michael A. Nutter in a press statement said: "Philadelphia is thrilled to welcome Forbes to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection and to be selected as the host city for the first Under 30 Summit. Philadelphia is best known for its historical attractions, but we have other incredible amenities, like our burgeoning restaurant and food scene, enviable arts and culture landscape and diverse economic sectors, that make us a great host city for the best and brightest young achievers - not to mention, we're the fastest growing City for young people in America. I want to thank Forbes for choosing Philadelphia, and I am looking forward to the Under 30 Summit."
The October 19-22 "Under 30 Summit" will be held at the Philadelphia Convention Center and throughout the city featuring TED-style presentations and keynotes, "Shark Tank"-style pitch contests. It will start with the "Under 30 Music Festival" and conclude with the "Under 30 Food Festival."
