'Marvel's Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 2: Season Two's Second Episode Sets an Explosion
From its producers ABC Studios, Marvel Television, and Mutant Enemy, Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D just premiered its second season last September 23 on ABC.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an American action-adventure superhero television series, based on the Marvel comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D..
S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division and it is a fictional intermediation and spy agency.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter.
The series is set in a world with superheroes and numerous supernatural phenomena, and follows Agent Phil Coulson putting together a small team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to handle various cases.
The second episode is entitled Heavy is the Head and started off with Melinda May coming across with covetous Lance Hunter, who had worked with Hartlay in the last week's season premiere.
The episode also features the villain Carl Creel, known as the Absorbing Man. With modification in Creel's body functions caused by the Obelisk, the antagonist now possesses more lethal powers.
From being Talbot's captive and traitor, Lance Hunter becomes a member of the team. Hunter wants to snuff out Creel.
Meanwhile, Leo Fitz talks with fictional Simmons who has been absent from the team for some time.
Near the end of the episode, Hunter knocks out the team so as to take his vengeance at Creel. He fires a sniper rifle at Creel's head, but Creel turns into metal that the bullet just bounces against him. Phil Coulson then zaps Creel, turning him into stone.
Raina, one of the villains from Season one and is played by Kyle MacLachlan, comes back in Season Two and is now working for Skye's father.
Mark Waid is the series' writer, along with Carlos Pacheco, Alan Davis, and Chris Sprouse. Waid sees that since the S.H.I.E.L.D. has a mission, then everyone in the Marvel Universe is a potential agent.
"This is our chance to introduce a lot of other characters into the Marvel Universe and give them the Marvel Universe spin," Waid said.
