'Batman: Arkham Asylum' - Come Inside Gotham's Institute For The Criminally Insane
"Arkham Asylum" is Gotham's notorious prison hospital for the city's most violent and criminally insane convicts. Batman's enemies such as The Joker, The Riddler, Mr. Freeze and many others have stayed in this asylum. Their stay is mostly short term as they seem to find little problem getting out of this mental facility. It has a reputation for being one of the most corrupt institutions in "Gotham" where the security is lax and most of its staff members are corrupt or don't give a damn.
In the new television show series "Gotham," the producers are looking for a hospital that would fit the role of the insane asylum. Well it seems that they have found their set for Batman's "Arkham Asylum." A FoxCT post reported that a hospital in Staten Island, New York is a very strong candidate. The Bayley Seton Hospital would make a suitable location for the hospital.
In Gotham's latest promotional video, the city mayor announced that the Arkham Asylum will be once again open its facilities to accommodate the city's growing criminally insane convicts.
In a "Gotham| episode, character "Selina Kyle" mentioned "Arkham Asylum" when she was telling about certain drugs being used by people who had kidnapped several children.
"Arkham Asylum" played a prominent role in some of Batman movies and comic books. Even in video games, the hospital has been used as the main backdrop. In March of 2010, RockSteady developed a game called: "Batman Arkham Asylum" Game of the Year Edition. Actually, this game is part of the Batman Arkham series.
"Arkham Asylum" has a pretty dark history. It was built by a man named Amadeus Arkham. One of its earlier patients was his mother Elizabeth who later committed suicide. The place was still under construction when Amadeus, himself, became insane.
A Bustle post speculates the reopened "Arkham Asylum" may become another feeding ground of corruption and will further expand the influences of the city's crime bosses.
