"Longmire Season 4": Crime Drama Series "Longmire" is in Search of Its New Home
A&E has chosen not to renew its hit western television series, "Longmire", for a fourth season, according to a report in Deadline.
Tvfanatic reveals in their report A&E's statement. "We would like to thank the phenomenal cast, crew, and producers of Longmire, along with our partners at Warner Horizon, for their tireless work on three seasons of quality dramatic storytelling. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together."
"Longmire" is a crime drama television series, which is based on the "Walt Longmire Mysteries" series of mystery novels written by the best-selling author Craig Johnson.
The television series follows Walt Longmire, a Wyoming county sheriff who returns to work following his wife passing away. With the assistance of his friends and his daughter, Longmire scrutinizes crimes within his prerogative, while campaigning for re-election.
"Longmire" members of the major cast include Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire, Katee Sackhoff as Victoria "Vic" Moretti, Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry Standing Bear, Cassidy Freeman as Cady Longmire, Bailey Chase as Branch Connally, and Dam Bartley as "The Ferg" Ferguson.
Filming of the show interiors for the previous seasons initially took place at Garson Studios in New Mexico, on the campus of Saint Fe University of Art and Design. On the other hand, the exteriors were filmed in and around Santa Fe and at Garson Studios.
Developed by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin, the series initially premiered last June 3, 2012 on A&E network, under Warner Horizon Television. The third season of the television series aired from June 2 to August 4, 2014. After that, the show was terminated last August 28.
At present, Warner Horizon Television is indeed shopping the series immediately to other networks. The series might get a fourth season but then, the show is cancelled. Even cancelled, the fans could be anticipating for its fourth season.
Definitely, the fans of the television series are in deep shock upon hearing the news. However, cast member Katte Sackhoff verbalized her thoughts on the news, in a report in Enstarz.
"I'm not surprised. My fiancé is a producer," she said. "As an actor living with someone like that you're a fly on the wall and get to learn things. Key demographics in this business are a hold, and that key demo is 18-to-25. Shows are won and lost and bought and sold and movies succeed or fail based on that key demo."
In the same report in Enstarz, it is noted that if the series is able to find a new network for its fourth installment, it will be likely to come back with new episodes in the latter half of 2015. With a powerhouse cast and ratings, "Longmire" has a higher chance to find a home somewhere.
