'Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1' Teaser Released: Katniss Back in District 12; Lorde Records a Haunting Song for the Penultimate Movie
"When all is lost, courage is found."
This is the opening tag line of the upcoming movie from the box office "Hunger Games"series. In a teaser released, to entice the excited fans of the movie franchise, Katniss Everdeen was shown in her devastated home, District 12, US Magazine reported.
"Hunger Games Mockingjay" Part 1's new video clip showed the dark-haired Jennifer Lawrence's well-known character assessing the damage of her original sanctuary before her life was drastically changed after she volunteered to be District 12's 'tribute' for the annual Hunger Games in Panem.
LA Times reported that the one-minute teaser also featured the voice of the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who played Plutarch Heavensbee, together with District 13 President Alma Coin, played by Julianne Moore. The two sent Katniss back to her home town to show Katniss the destruction done by the Capitol.
Plutarch and President Alma wanted Katniss to be the face of their rebellion against the Capitol leader, President Snow, played by Donald Sutherland. To convince and make the resistance more personal for the heroine, she was sent back to District 12 where ruins are both haunting and melancholic.
As the "Girl on Fire" surveyed her former home, the equally poignant "Yellow Flicker Beat" sung by Lorde was playing in the background. After seeing almost all the wrecked havoc left by the bombings, Katniss went back to her house in Victor's Village, where she gathered some important things. Before she left, she also found a threatening note from President Snow.
"Mockingjay Part 1" is the penultimate film of the "Hunger Games" series produced by Lions Gate, as reported by E Online. The franchise is based on the best selling novel series "The Hunger Games" written by the Young Adult author Suzanne Collins. The movie's predecessor, "Hunger Games" and "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" has recorded box office sales during their releases.
The story's main heroine, Katniss Everdeen, survived the deadly "Hunger Games" twice. First is when she volunteered as a tribute in replacement for her younger sister who was picked during the draw. She survived the game with her co-tribute from District 12, which is Peeta Mellark.
In "Catching Fire," the Capitol called for an all-star "Hunger Games" where tributes came from the pool of former victors from all the 12 districts. Peeta and Katniss were then brought back to the eccentric game arena. The second movie ended when the arena exploded and Katniss was brought to the supposed inexistent District 13.
Jennifer Lawrence will be joined by her two leading men, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Katniss' young love Gale Hawthorne. "The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1" will also star: Woody Harrelson as Katniss' mentor Haymitch, Lenny Kravits as Cinna who styles Katniss, Elizabeth Banks as the ever bubbly and fashionable Effie Trinket, and Sam Claffin and Jena Malone as former victors.
"The Hunger Games Mockingjay" Part 1 will premiere on Nov. 21 while its Part 2 is slated for a Nov. 20 release next year.
