'The Blacklist Season 2' Episode 5 Recap: Saving Human Race From Deadly Plague Brought By Environmental Organization, The Front
This episode of "The Blacklist" dwells on saving the human race from a deadly plague brought by an Environmental organization named "The Front".
In the opening scenes, we see a woman who got overrun by a taxi because a man pushed her into it. The woman's name was Carrie Ann, the wife of Maddox Beck, who happens to be the leader of the bio-terrorist group called The Front.
Red (James Spader) warns Liz (Megan Boone) about The Front. Liz said that The Front is gone and its leaders are dead. However, Red clarifies that the group just went out of their sight.
Later onto the show, The Front got hold of the Apophis Strain, an ancient biological weapon that killed nearly 200 million people centuries ago. Maddox Beck preached among his followers that they must spread the plague in all corners of the earth in order to save the remains of the planet. Some 20 people agreed to be the carrier of the deadly plague and they were sent to board different planes.
Sharon, one of Maddox's followers infected the people in DC. Streets were abandoned and thousands of people were put into quarantine. FBI figures out the location of the other followers, Samar pursues a man named Perez. Perez was about to board his plane when Samar stopped him, there was a little fight and in the process Samar got infected and shot. Liz tried to stop the bleeding from Samar's gunshot wound and got the virus as well.
Upon knowing that Liz and Samar only got 8 hours to live, Red hunted down Maddox. He figures out his hiding place, ironically, Maddox together with Pepper stayed behind in a barn to save themselves from the plague. The two invented the cure to avoid being infected. Red took the cure and an ancient key then left the two in the hands of the FBI.
Earlier that day, Red goes to the DMV, in search for a woman in the picture. He hired Glenn to do the job, but something wrong with the employee. Glenn had an emotional breakdown when he revealed that his mother got a cancer. Then, Red tried to seek the help of Rad to find the woman but it got busted when Rad told Liz about it.
Towards the last scenes of the episode, Rad got a call from the DMV, they said they got a hit with the girl and she is using a different name, Zoey D'Antonio. In the end, Red tracked the girl's location and he sees her working in a food truck named American Bistro.
Is Zoey D' Antionio, Red's missing daughter?
