Samsung Galaxy Gear 2: Too Expensive for Less Features? Specs, Feature, Price and Review of the Gear 2 Smartwatch
The Samsung's Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch looks better and performs better than its predecessor. Yet, its recent reviews suggest that the Gear 2 doesn't quite live up to the expectations of the smartwatch users today.
Others say that the Gear 2 is too expensive for what it offers, and despite the improvements made on Gear 2, they say that the smartwatch comes off short when compared to many smartwatches out there.
Nonetheless, compared to the previous Gear, the Gear 2 has three times the previous battery life, a new heart rate monitor and an IR blaster, plus the improved design.
Also, the new Gear runs on Tizen instead of the previous Android, and has a number of additional native apps with better notifications.
Gear 2 is designed with a brushed metal, while the strap is still similar to the previous plastic material, except the microphone isn't placed on the same area, and the camera is now up in the main watch housing. This means the plastic strap is bare, and it can be replaced with other straps of different colors.
It has a 1.63 inch super AMOLED display, and comes with a dual-core 1GHz chip, a 512MB RAM, and a smaller 300mAh battery. The hardware remains the same as the previous Gear, but with a more refined feel to it. It comes with a 2 megapixel camera, a 720p video shooting, and an integrated music player.
The Gear 2 is also waterproof up to one meter for 30 minutes, and has a complete dust protection.
The rest of the features remain unchanged, including the Bluetooth 4.0, 4GB storage, microphone, an accelerometer, and a slightly smaller and sturdier charger.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch is priced $300.
