Hillsong Church Featured on ABC's "Nightline"

Hillsong Church was the featured story that aired on ABC News' program "Nightline." The segment, focused around Hillsong Church, and aired at 11:35pm CT / 12:35am ET.
Founded by Senior Pastors Brian and Bobbie Houston, Hillsong Church started as a surburban church in Sydney, Australia with just over 40 members. Unlike many other churches, Hillsong Church started writing their own music under the leadership of Geoff Bullock and later Darlene Zschech. The Houstons had a vision of taking their worship music worldwide. After many tries into various avenues, Integrity Music signed the church team and released their ground breaking worship album "Shout to the Lord" which featured Darlene Zschech as the lead worship leader. The album not only cauught the attention of the church worldwide, but it launched their yearly releases of live records.
Now Hillsong has 30,000 worshippers on an average Sunday. Four years ago, they launched Hillsong Church in New York City that packs as many as 8,000 worshippers each Sunday. A church that Justin Bieber sometimes attends. Also, Hillsong launched Hillsong UNITED. This year at the Dove Awards, Hillsong UNITED won five Dove Awards including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Contemporary Christian Performance of the Year, Worship Song of the Year and Pop Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, and a special nod with a Lifetime Achievement.
"We are completely humbled that a bunch of everyday ordinary church kids would have the honor to be recognized for what we do, which in a nutshell is to glorify Jesus and help people connect with Him," said worship leader Jonathan Douglass, who was the lone representative of the group, "So these awards are all trophies to the glory of God and represent people hearing the Gospel and encountering His presence."
