Michael Sweet Speaks About the Formation & the Music of Sweet and Lynch

SWEET & LYNCH is a brand new band centered around the talents of guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet of Christian hard rockers STRYPER and iconic guitarist George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, ex DOKKEN) along with bassist James Lomenzo (ex MEGADETH, WHITE LION, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Brian Tichy (ex WHITESNAKE).
"SWEET & LYNCH was born as the brainchild of Serafino Perugino, President of Frontiers Music", recalls Sweet. "He asked me to basically sing on this record and then I suggested producing it and co-wrote the songs with George", continues the singer. Brian Tichy and James Lomenzo were then called in to complete the lineup. Now a complete a band, plans are being formulated to rehearse and book a tour to play the music included on this amazing debut album "Only to Rise" to the fans in a live setting.
Hallels: Tell us what is the story behind the formation of Sweet and Lynch?
I was approached by Serafino at Frontiers Records to be a part of a "Supergroup". I suggested producing and writing the album and he agreed. I then suggested the band members (George Lynch, Brian Tichy, James Lomenzo) and it all just fell I to place.
Hallels: Will you still be making music with your respective bands, i.e., Lynch Mob and Stryper?
Of course! This is a side project and although we will be focusing on this project, Stryper and Lynch Mob are our priorities.
Hallels: Is this a one off Sweet and Lynch album or do you intend to have a series of albums?
We do plan to do more but I'm sure this will be determined by the success of "Only To Rise". Time will tell.
Hallels: So, how would you describe the sound of Sweet and Lynch?
It's a throwback to the 70's/80's and has lots of different flavors. We wanted to remind people of the greatest era's in rock. This album does that.
Hallels: What is your favorite song off this album?
I'd say "Divine". I love the groove and feel of this one.
Hallels: Will Sweet and Lynch be touring to support this record?
We are planning a select run if dates now. Hopefully everything will turn out as planned. A lot of people seem to want to hear/see this band live!
Hallels: If our readers would like to purchse your new album or/and find out more about you, where can they go?
They can go to Amazon, ITunes, BestBuy and michaelsweet.com
