Getting to Know the Social Media Sensation Bri: "Whatever He Needs Me to Do... I'll Do It"
Bri - also known as Bebe to her fans - already has the platform of a well-established artist with over a quarter million Instagram followers. This phenomenon started last year when she was going through a rough time emotionally. "I didn't want to sing anymore," she recalls. "I was in this dark place and I couldn't see my way out." Two friends pushed her to hang out with them at a photographer's studio and while there Bri began to sing "Make Me Over" by Tonex. "That night I begin to sing with so much conviction and began to release all the pain, the hurt, the things that I went through and I made a vow to God that no matter what I go through in life that I'm still going to bless His name."
One of Bri's friends posted the video of that song on You Tube this past January. It went viral and to date the video has amassed over 200,000 views. Since then, Bri periodically posts a cappella performances on her simply_bebe_ Instagram page that garner thousands of likes and ecstatic comments.
Hallels: Thanks Bri for your time. Tell us a little about who you are.
My name is Briana Babineaux (Nicknames: BRI, Hawaii, Bruddie) I'm 20 years old and I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. I've always been outgoing with lots of energy, so it led me to playing sports in school like Basketball (Point Guard), Volleyball, and running Track. Although I was very good at sports....I really had a strong passion for singing within my church at a young age. In doing so, I was always singing in the Praise team or choir. I'm a person that Loves people and my family. I like the simple things in life like spending time with family, hanging out with my friends, shopping, watching movies and singing.
Hallels: Your cell phone video of yourself singing Tonex's "Make Me Over" to YouTube received almost a half million views, how did that happen?
The video of Tonex's "Make Me Over" was posted online by a childhood friend. It was not something that was intended to get likes and was not planned, so I was surprised by it all.
Hallels: I believe a few recording labels approach to sign you, how did you feel then?
As I began to receive calls from record labels.....I was in shock and I was very humbled.
It was like I was dreaming, because it all happened so fast!
Hallels: Now you've released your new single "I'll be the One." For our readers who have not heard it, what's the song about?
If you haven't heard "I'll be the One" single .....The Single is about giving God your all...being better than you were before...In essence of how many times he's had my back ...It's a vow to him that I have HIS back and I won't let him down. In this song I'm letting him know...HE can ALWAYS count on me. In essence .....It's a love song to God pouring out my inner most thoughts and feeling to him and Just letting him know that ...Whatever HE needs me to do ... I'll do it!
Hallels: Are you working on your new album now? Who do you plan to work with?
At this present time...My other single "Holy Spirit" is due to be released in July 2015 and an album in the Fall of 2015. As far as the artists I may be working with all those details are not finalized as of yet; However I've listened to various artists coming up and have sung many different artist's songs, so to be able to collaborate with any of those I would be very honored.
Hallels: For our readers who would like to find out more about you, where can they go?
