Metallica Debuts New Song at South American Concert, Watch Performance Here (VIDEO)
Heavy-metal legends, Metallica, unveiled a new song called "Lords of Summer" at a recent concert in Columbia. Several fans recorded the song and it started popping up all over the internet (watch live performance above).
Now, there is a more official version of their new song that the band has posted on Youtube from the studio dubbed the "garage demo version".
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich recently told Rolling Stone that "Lords of Summer" is "fairly representative" of where their "creative headspace is at right now." He says it's a way to prove to fans that they're "writing and creating away," but admits that it may not actually end up on the band's long awaited follow-up to their last full-length album, 2008's Death Magnetic.
Metallica has been one of the biggest hard rock bands in the world since the 1980's. Their biggest commercial album, Black, that released in 1991 almost destroyed the band as they toured the world heavily for two years promoting it. Their addictions to alcohol were overtaking their lives and breaking up their families. To their credit, they went to rehab and have been sober for several years now.
Metallica has won nine Grammy Awards and their last five albums have all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts. They have sold over 53,000,000 albums in the U.S. alone.
