Paul Baloche's "Our God Saves" Turns 8
8 years ago on September 18, 2007, veteran worship leader Paul Baloche released Our God Saves, his seventh Integrity Music recording. Produced by Baloche and Austin Deptula, Our God Saves was recorded live at Community Christian Fellowship in Lindale, Texas, where Baloche has served as worship leader for 18 years then.
Our God Saves features 12 songs written or co-written by Baloche, along with the classic hymn, "How Great Thou Art." Co-writers on the project include Matt Redman, Brenton Brown, Kathryn Scott and Glenn Packiam (Desperation), among others. The collection also features guest vocals from Lincoln Brewster, Redman, Packiam, Scott, and Baloche's wife Rita and son David.
In addition, the enhanced CD includes song stories, lead sheets, and an instructional guitar tutorial. "From beginning to end, this project was created out of close relationships," said Baloche. "It was such a privilege to write the songs with friends and peers who I respect and love, including Brenton Brown, Matt Redman and Kathryn Scott. Then we recorded with my road band of several years at my home church of 18 years. The essence of life is about our relationships. The essence of worship is about our relationship with God."
"Paul continues to amaze me with his ability to write songs that connect with so many people and give voice to the cries of the heart," said Don Moen, president of Integrity Music then.
"As a worship leader, he understands the need for songs that embrace sound doctrine and universal themes, songs that are transgenerational and transcultural."
Paul Baloche is one of the foremost worship writers of our time. His songs, including "Open The Eyes Of My Heart," "Above All," "Hosanna" and "All The Earth Will Sing Your Praises," are sung by millions around the globe. "Above All" garnered a Dove Award in 2002 for Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year, and Baloche received nominations in 2007 for Inspirational Album of the Year (A Greater Song) and Special Event Album (Arise - A New Celebration of Worship).
In addition to leading worship for congregations across the country and overseas, Baloche serves as an instructor for Seminars4Worship and other conferences, where he trains and mentors worship leaders, songwriters and musicians. In conjunction with the release of Our God Saves, worship resources, including CD trax, a songbook and digital songbook, will be available simultaneously.
