Don Piper's "90 Minutes in Heaven" Debuts at #9 at the Box Office

Christian drama "90 Minutes in Heaven," starring Hayden Christensen and Kate Bosworth, is launching this weekend through Samuel Goldwyn Films at more than 800 sites. It is expected to come in the box office at #9. The film has been tracking to open with less than $5 million.
The film revolves around Don Piper who was involved in a horrific car crash and was pronounced dead at the scene and covered by a tarp. 90 minutes later he had been brought to the emergency room and returns to life, and claims to have seen Heaven and visited with deceased relatives while there.
The project was shot in Atlanta, Georgia, and the shooting finished in March 2015. Since its publication, Don Piper's book was twice on the New York Times Best Seller list, was listed as a USA Today best-seller, and has sold 7 million copies in 46 languages

"War Room," which dethroned "Straight Outta Compton" to win the Labor Day weekend, is likely to finish third in the $6 million to $8 million range. The faith-based drama has topped $31 million in less than two weeks.
