Hillsong's Writer and Pop Artist Brooke Fraser Gives Birth to a Daughter
Hillsong Worship writer and current pop artist Brooke Fraser and her husband Scott Ligertwood welcomed her first child this weekend. The healthy little girl is named Dylan Wilde Ligertwood. Fraser writes: "My daughter, Dylan Wilde Ligertwood, 9 / 18 / 15."
Fraser is the eldest of three children born to former All Black Bernie Fraser,who was born in Lautoka, Fiji, and his wife Lynda Fraser. Her father is of Fijian, Portuguese and Scottish descent. Brooke grew up in Naenae, Lower Hutt and attended Dyer Street School, Naenae Intermediate School and Naenae College.
Fraser took piano lessons between the ages of seven and seventeen. She started writing songs at age twelve and taught herself the acoustic guitar at fifteen. She began writing for the Soul Purpose magazine at age fifteen, and was later made editor in 2002. She gave up her job as editor shortly after moving to Auckland in late 2002 in order to pursue her music career.
Under the encouragement of Hillsong Chuch's worship pastor Darlene Zschech, Fraser began writing and leading worship for the megachurch. She has sung on both Hillsong Live albums alongside Darlene Zschech and as a part of Hillsong United with Joel Houston. Songs Fraser has writer for Hillsong Worship & UNITED Include "None but Jesus"; "Revolution"; "Lead Me to the Cross"; "Hosanna"; "Lord of lords"; "You'll Come"; "Desert Song"; "Soon"; "I Will Exalt You"; "Like Incense (Sometimes by Step)"; "Beneath the Waters (I will Rise); "Man of Sorrows"; "To be Like You"; "You Crown the Year (Psalm 65:11)"; "Depths"; and "Our Father."
As a solo artist, Fraser is best known for her third studio album Flags, and hit single "Something in the Water". Fraser is one of the top selling and most popular recording artists of all time in New Zealand, her albums being awarded 15x platinum to date. Her album, Brutal Romantic, was released in November 2014 .
