Buddy Greene's Mother Has Passed Away

Songwriter and singer Buddy Greene's mother, Edna Crowe Greene, has passed away on November 29. She passed away from complications related to Alzheimer's disease. She was 91 years old.
Greene has been known for touring with the Gaithers and appearing on their Homecoming video series, as well as continuing to write and record his unique brand of gospel music, Greene has built a solid reputation as a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and talented performer with a distinct southern flavor. His virtuosity on the harmonica has distinguished him as an instrumental force to be reckoned with.
Greenes songwriting has gained him recognition as well, especially as the co-writer of the Christmas favorite, "Mary, Did You Know?", recorded by many of today's top recording artists, including Clay Aiken, Pentatonix, Kathy Mattea, Kenny Rogers & Wynonna, Natalie Cole, Glen Campbell, and Kathleen Battle, to name a few.
Mrs. Greene was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, Bowden Ladies' Golf Association and Idle Hour Ladies' Golf Association. She enjoyed her Sunday school class, playing golf and bridge, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was married for 59 years to Lee R. Greene Jr., who is deceased.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra, her sons Buddy and Chip, her stepdaughter Dale, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many other family members.
As Edna had suffered from Alzheimer's for many years, the family is comforted to know she is now with her Lord. In the words of a friend of the family, "Now, she laughs and knows why ... remembers every precious moment ... recognizes every face, and patiently waits for you all to see her new life."
