Coldplay New Album 'Ghost Stories' is Fastest Selling Album of 2014
Coldplay is reaching new heights with their latest album Ghost Stories. It has become the world-famous pop/rock band's the fastest selling album of 2014. The album was named as the band's sixth consecutive Number One album by the Official Charts Company, after selling 168,000 copies since its release last Monday (May 19). Altogether, the band have sold 11.1 million albums in the UK since the release of their debut, 2000's 'Parachutes'. Earlier, the band's frontman Chris Martin joined Kings Of Leon onstage at Radio 1's One Big Weekend in Glasgow, to play 'Fans' from the band's 2007 album 'Because of the Times'.
Coldplay is gearing up for a groud-breaking prime-time special that will be shown on television networks all across the world (see dates and channel index below). They have released an extended trailer, which you can watch above, previewing the television special which will Coldplay will share songs from their new upcoming album, Ghost Stories.
Coldplay: Ghost Stories was filmed by Grammy-nominated director Paul Dugdale who has also worked with the likes of Adele and the Rolling Stones. It was recorded in a custom-built amphitheatre in front of an audience of 800 fans. The show blends a unique in-the-round performance from the band with cinematic vignettes and immersive 360-degree projections.
Coldplay released their new single for their fans on March 3, 2014, titled "Magic". Coldplay's sixth album, Ghost Stories, released from Parlophone/Atlantic Records on May 19, 2014. Coldplay formed in 1996 and became known worldwide with their hit single "Yellow" in 2000. Their debut album Parachutes including the hit single won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
