Julia Louis Dreyfus Breast Cancer Diagnosis: Anna Kendrick, More Celebrities Send Best Wishes to 'Veep' Star

After longtime “Seinfeld” actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus was diagnosed with breast cancer on Thursday, co-actors and other Hollywood stars were quick to send their best wishes.
Louis-Dreyfus has used her circumstances as a chance to highlight the importance of universal healthcare. According to the Emmy award-winning actress, she has been blessed with “the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance though [her] union.” However, not all women suffering from cancer has been given access to such resources.
Recently, the Manhattan native broke the record for the highest number of Emmy wins in the same category as she bagged the award for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for “Veep” for the sixth time. Now, she is thanking her supporters, including her family, friends, and fellow celebrities for their outpouring support.
“I don’t think I realized how much I love this woman, who I don’t know. Love her more for speaking up for others in this moment,” actress Anna Kendrick wrote on Twitter.
Similarly, actress/comedian Kathy Griffin, whose sister Joyce died of cancer, shared words of appreciation for Louis-Dreyfus and her efforts to use her diagnosis to emphasize universal healthcare. Griffin also called out those who have been criticizing and sending negative responses to the ‘Veep’ star’s message.
Comedian Rosie O’ Donnel also sent “love to Julia Louis-Dreyfus reveals breast cancer diagnosis” on Twitter while using the hashtag #BEwell. Actress Debra Messing expressed her gratitude towards Louis-Dreyfus, saying: “J sending all my healing energy your way. You are incredible to use this moment as an opportunity to support others. Thank you. Much love xd.”
Actor/director Judd Apatow did send love and strength to the 56-year-old actress “but it appears you beat us to it and are sending the world love and strength,” he said.
In an official statement released by HBO, Louis-Dreyfus received news of her breast cancer diagnosis on the day she won her sixth lead actress award for “Veep.” The critically-acclaimed series has been set to conclude at the end of the next installment. Such decision, though, was not determined by the actress’ diagnosis.
“We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep,” HBO stated.
