Radio Host Delilah Continues to Grieve Over Son Zachariah’s Death, Thousands Offer Prayers and Support

Romance radio star Delilah Rene continues to grieve over her son Zachariah’s death after he took his own life earlier this month.
On Thursday, the famous radio host took to Facebook and revealed that her “heart is struggling to continue to beat.”
After the radio host shared the tragic news that her teenage son committed suicide caused by a longtime battle with depression, thousands had taken to social media sites to offer their support and prayers.
Posting on her official Facebook page, Delilah shared the heartbreaking news that her son, Zachariah, took his life early morning on October 3.
"He was being treated, counseled, and embraced fiercely by family and friends while battling depression for some time now. My heart is broken beyond repair and I cannot fathom how to go on...but I have to believe he is at peace with the Lord and that God will get us through," the "Queen of sappy love songs" wrote.
Delilah also added that she will take time out from the radio in these times of mourning. In conclusion, the radio host asked her friends, family members, and followers to continue praying for her “beloved Zacky, and I will pray for all suffering from this debilitating disease called depression."
Days after, Delilah’s Facebook posted raked in more than 400,000 reactions and more than 148,000 comments.
"Delilah you mean so much to so many of us as you share your faith, wisdom and music. May God be your stronghold through this terrible tragedy. The loss of a child is so devastating and not something any parent should experience. Our prayers are with you, “one commenter wrote.
"I am so sorry Delilah. you have been here for so many and have helped me through the years. Take your time to grieve and we will be here when you come back. I pray God gives you strength and i know he will,” another commenter said.
Delilah’s radio show is heard across over 150 stations in the U.S. and, as noted by NBC, she is the most listened to woman on radio within the country. In 2016, she had been inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
In an interview with People, Delilah opened up about her son and focused more on his personality, instead of how he took his life. She said he was a faithful friend, especially to those experiencing difficulties in life.
“Dozens of his friends have written to me and told me he was like a counselor to them," she said.
Delilah’s son had been in his senior year in high school. He was previously involved in a vehicular accident in 2016 and, later on, had difficulties in school. After finding out that he would not be joining graduation, he went into depression. According to Delilah herself, Zachary was doing fine before taking his own life; he even shared his excitement about joining film school next year.
Zack was one of the radio host’s 13 children- 10 of whom are adopted. In 2012, Delilah also lost her son Sammy due to complications caused by sickle cell anemia.
