USA continues to surprise people with their solid play at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Their play continues today with the match up against Germany for a chance to advance out of Group G and into the Round of 16. You can watch the USA vs. Germany game live online from ESPN at 12 pm ET from Brazil HERE.
The United States were in control of their last game with Portugal but allowed them to score in extra time to give a 2-2 draw which results in a tough final group game against Germany. The good news for the U.S. team is that they only need a draw in the game today to make it into the knockout stages.
Germany as well just needs a draw today to advance as group winners. U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann claims they will play for the win and not the draw however, saying his team is "not made for ties."
The United States may make some line-up changes from their last match with Portugal. Jozy Altidore it out, so that leaves Clint Dempsey as the team's lone striker currently in the line-up.
Germany's Jerome Boateng and Sami Khedira, have been struggling with thigh and knee problems respectively recently. If either is declared unavailable, Shkodran Mustafi and Bastian Schweinsteiger would likely be the respective first-choice to get the minutes today vs the U.S.
Projected lineups:
United States (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; DaMarcus Beasley, Matt Besler, Geoff Cameron, Fabian Johnson; Kyle Beckerman, Jermaine Jones; Graham Zusi, Michael Bradley, Alejandro Bedoya; Clint Dempsey.
Germany (4-3-3): Manuel Neuer; Benedikt Höwedes, Mats Hummels, Per Mertesacker, Jerome Boateng; Sami Khedira, Philipp Lahm, Toni Kroos; Mario Götze, Thomas Müller, Mesut Özil.
