The Strain looks to become the next hit show for FX
The Strain is set to debut on FX on July 13th and looks like it could be the next big hit for the network that is riding high with colossal hits such as: Fargo, American Horror Story, Sons of Anarchy, and Justified.
The creative team behind The Strain includes Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Pacific Rim) as Executive Producer and Writer; as well as Chuck Hogan (The Town). The Strain follows Epidemiologist, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather played by Corey Stoll (House of Cards). The series is based on their 2009 novel also titled: The Strain.
In the pilot episode Dr. Goodweather, who is in charge of CDC Canary Team in New York City, gets called to JFK airport to investigate a mysterious occurrence. A plane has landed (on autopilot) with 206 of the passengers dead, except for four survivors. Upon a thorough inspection of the plane a mysterious wooden box is found, in the cargo with dirt and worms inside. When Dr. Goodweather examines the deceased, only to discover that they suffer from all the hallmarks of...wait for it...Vampirism! From there the plot thickens and chaos ensues, as New Yorkers are morphed into blood thirsty undead; hellbent on preying on the living!
The anticipation for this show is palpable and the buzz has continued to grow. With the team of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, FX has brought in two masterful storytellers and Hollywood heavyweights. The Strain looks like it is the kind of show that will instantly attract a loyal allegiance of fans and keep FX at the forefront of compelling and innovative television.
