Sidewalk Prophets Announces ‘Great Big Family Christmas Tour’
Following up to their widely successful inaugural Great Big Family Christmas Tour last year, Sidewalk Prophets has announced the launch of their second annual tour during this holiday season. Kicking off Dec. 5 and running through Dec. 20, the tour is slated to hit a dozen midwest and southern markets, such as Lansing, MI, Cincinnati, OH, Monroe, NC, and Madison (Nashville), TN.
Similar to last year's tour, the band will partner with Olivet Nazarene University. Utilizing six of the school's students as the horns and strings section during each show, this opportunity allows the students to receive direct hands-on touring and music business experience.
Each tour stop promises to bring the audience into the band's "living room" for a magical night of celebrating the birth of Christ. The evening will also share many holiday classics and Sidewalk Prophets originals, many which will be found on Merry Christmas To You: Great Big Family Edition, their upcoming Christmas music album release and follow-up to their 2013 holiday project. The deluxe album is slated to release later this year and will include two new original songs and two previously unreleased tracks.
The biggest moment of last year's tour came at the end of each show where the band took up an offering, which would then be given to someone in need within the community. Over the course of the 2018 tour, the band raised more than $40,000 in donations. This second annual Christmas tour again promises to continue that tradition of raising money for those in need, specifically in the communities of each tour stop.
Another continued tradition will be surprise giveaways throughout the evening, such as big screen TV's, iPads, gift cards, sports memorabilia and more. In addition, last year more than 7,000 concertgoers received Little Debbie cakes at the shows, and Sidewalk Prophets have again partnered up with Little Debbie for this year's tour with hopes to reach even more concertgoers with the treats.
"Make no mistakes about it, we love Christmastime, and wear this tour like a badge of honor!" says Dave Frey, lead vocalist for Sidewalk Prophets, sharing the band's excitement about the upcoming tour. "This night is all about family, fun, music, and memories - and at the heart of it all is the birth of Christ! There isn't a more exciting time of year, and there isn't a better night to celebrate. We can't wait to see everyone at this year's show - it's going to be a blast!"
