Spoilers from Courtney Cox & Matt Leblance: No "Friends" Reunion on the Horizon
So no one told us life was gonna be this way...in a world without "Friends," fans are simply withering away. That is probably why when a fan made a "Friends" reunion poster earlier this year, devotees of the long-running series went nuts in anticipation of a supposed reunion special, rumored to air around Thanksgiving of this year.
Unfortunately, this is simply not to be. Certain members of the "Friends" cast have been approached as to the validity of these reunion special rumors. Matt LeBlanc, who played aspiring (and mostly failing) actor Joey Tribbiani, has responded that the chances of a reunion actually happening are extremely small. He stated, "No one wants to see Chandler at his kid's soccer game talking to other people. It was those characters in a room relying on each other and past that it's not the same environment so I don't see it happening."
Courtney Cox, who portrayed Monica Geller on the show, was a little more vehement in debunking the rumors. In response to David Letterman's queries as to whether or not the six friends would be reuniting at Central Perk, Cox stated that not only would there be no reunion, but she has had a difficult time even attempting to get the gang together for a simple dinner party. "Let me tell you something, there's six friends and I've been trying to put together a cast dinner for 10 years. It doesn't happen," Cox said. "I mean, I could get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc canceled last time right at the last minute, [David] Schwimmer lives here (in New York City) so, it's just not gonna happen."
Although "Friends" will not be making a comeback, 2014 remains a big year for the show: the ten-year anniversary of the show's finale was celebrated in May, and the show will celebrate twenty years on the air come September.
