Spoilers and Cast News Announced For "American Horror Story: Freak Show," Which Premieres on FX in October
Ryan Murphy, one of the minds behind "Glee," has also served up one of the scariest shows on television in recent memory. "American Horror Story," which premiered in 2011, recently wrapped up its third season, capping out the lineup of wildly successful and much-watched seasons.
Each season of "AHS" features a different storyline and a new setting. So far, we have been in modern-day LA and living in the "Murder House," in an insane asylum fraught with Nazis and aliens, and in New Orleans at a school for young witches.
Although the show's producers and FX have been very hush-hush about the highly-anticipated fourth season of "American Horror Story," a few new details have been released about it.
The fourth season will take place in an unlikely place: 1950s, Jupiter, Florida, which was the home of one of the last remaining freak shows in the United States.
Fans were delighted to hear that Jessica Lange, a staple of the show since the first season, will be returning for this season, playing the ringmaster of the freak show. However, this will be the last time we will see the veteran actress on "American Horror Story." Most of the main cast from seasons two and three will also be returning for season four, including Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson (who has revealed in an interview that she will be playing a two-headed woman), and Denis O'Hare.
There will be two new additions that we know of so far. Michael Chiklis will appear for the very first time as Kathy Bates's ex-husband and Evan Peters' father. Wes Bentley has also been reported as joining the cast; he will be a freakshow performer bent on revenge who torments Kathy Bates's character.
While no official teaser has been released by FX, anxious fans have begun to supply their own teaser trailers of what they imagine the season will be like. You can see one such speculative fan-made teaser trailer here.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" will premiere on FX in October.
