Crowder Has the Church in Mind with "He Is"
Crowder has released the second single from his upcoming new album Milk and Honey. "He Is," just like many songs on his forthcoming album, is written for the church to sing. Listen to "He Is" HERE.
Crowder explains: "Even from my college days helping out in a church in Waco, TX, I've wanted to write songs that the body of Christ can sing out together. This is a song for the Church. It's an anthem to direct our eyes to all that God is in a time of heaviness. I can't wait to share it with you on Friday and sing it together - He is constant, available, and bringing people from death to life."
He is
Hope for the hopeless
Rest for the weary
Help for the hurting
He is, He is Mending the broken
Bearing the burdens
All that you're needing
He is
The new album Milk and Honey was inspired by God's promise from the book of Exodus. When God brought his people out of Egypt, he was leading them to Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey. However, in order to get to such a destination, the Israelites had to undertake a challenging journey. It is during this journey, God makes his covenant with his people. He also gave them reminders of presence, including a fire by night and a cloud by day.
David Crowder explains: "During a season of desolation and wandering, I've been writing songs to remind me that we are headed somewhere beyond this - songs that remind me that it is the God of Abraham and Isaac, the God of Jacob, Moses and David, the God who promised a Savior and a way back to Him, it is He that we follow and He has not left us alone. On the other side of the desert is a land of covenant promise - where the blind see, the lame walk, the tears are dry, the lamb and the lion are like best buds and we see face-to-face the One who made us. In between captivity and promise, we need to be reminded."
