H.B. Charles, Jr. Believes Good Preaching and Songwriting Go Hand in Hand

Pastor, author, songwriter, and vocalist H.B. Charles, Jr. believes that good songwriting needs to be informed by good preaching. Pastor Charles, who has recently released his new album The Lord Bless You, reveals that many of his songs came out of his sermon preparation. Only through the rigorous exposition of the Bible can songs produce substantial messages that draw us in holiness to God.
"Over the past several years, I have been writing music. The process started somewhat spontaneously, during my devotional times," the pastor reveals. "I would sing melodies as I prayed and read scripture. Other songs were born from study times in sermon preparation. I periodically try out some of these songs during prayer meetings and worship services."
The fruits of his arduous study of God's word can be heard on the songs of his new album. "At this point, I am eager to share this music with a wider audience. We have completed a new CD of music I have written over the past several years. The music is scripture-based, gospel-saturated, and Christ-exalting." The first single off the project is "Thank You For It All." "I pray the music will be enriching, edifying, and encouraging."
Producer Joe Pace adds, "Pastor Charles is indeed a uniquely gifted songwriter and worship leader whose music not only represents who he is and what he believes but also his heart for the church and God's people. This project will be an incredible blessing to all those who listen and I was honored to be a part."
